Whats the rule for bringing this on a plane? I assume its all kosher since as you said you were going to algonquin park. Maybe you are from Canada and crossing state lines isn’t an issue. In any case, if you have an answer I would love to know. Headed to Peru in June 2010, Thanx

I wonder if anything could be done to limit the amount of garbage that menu would produce. A lot of it is doubled since there’s the orignal packaging and the ziplocs.

I just bought a dehydrator for making my camping, hiking and canoeing meals…next I will need a food vacuum and sealer.

Don’t worry, she has them packed with her food. But she also gets some of my bannock and pepperoni sticks. That’s heaven for her since she isn’t normally allowed people food

I’m using a …
I’m using a dehydrator as well, even for lean ground beef, and it works very well. Makes great jerky too – with no nitrates with makes me crazy thirsty. The Food Saver bags look heavy duty and oxygen impermeable, so I think it’s time to go that way. Have been experimenting with pressure cooker, can cook rice and legumes in under 20 min. Really helpful how you show this. Many thanks.

One of these days I will try Bannock and will make some clarified butter, I am like you the dehydrator and vacuum sealer is great I don’t have to eat those high sodium freeze dried meals anymore. Thanks for sharing again Maddy enjoy your trip.

Yes, I do the dehydrating. Getting the dehydrator and the food packager has really changed the way I do food for trips. Btw, I’m using the Food Saver and really like it, you’re better of to go higher end with food packers.

mmmm…sheppards pie! great vids! keep up the great work! always interested in other’s tips and tricks, especially from a fellow Canadian. instant noodles, oatmeal and pepperoni sticks are also a staple of mine. i also always bring hot chocolate and lipton chicken noodle packs. i don’t go as light wright as you yet, but you did inspire me to try cooking some spaghetti which my gf and i loved! thanks again or the great vids!
